F2H-2 Banshee S/N 124942
The Banshee used for Recruit Heat Transfer missions, aircraft 942, launched its payloads
off the coast near Wallops. I've assumed it took off from USN Chincoteague (later NASA Wallops Main Base)
but it may have been staged from Patuxent River.
942 was a NACA plane rather than a Navy one though, although according to Joe Baugher's
site it was assigned to LeRC.
A Banshee was also used for the Navy Rockair launches in 1955. I suspect it was the
same aircraft but don't have any evidence to support that guess.
